You’ll likely need more than a mere three days to experience everything Austin has to offer. Still, it can be plenty of time to fall in love with the heart of the Lone Star State. Read on for some itinerary ideas to help you make the most of your time in Austin.

Day One

Launch your trip to Austin with a walking tour of the city’s downtown district. Start with the visitor’s center: a great place for resources on Austin’s lodging, eateries and attractions. Explore Austin Detours for an introduction into the city’s music scene, then grab lunch at one of the local food trucks to dine like a true Austin resident. Finish the day off with some shopping at the retail centers located along South Congress Avenue. Here, you’ll find countless local artisans and a slew of small local shops to explore.

Day Two

Start off Day Two by snapping some photos, to help you remember your trip. The “I Heart Austin” mural is the perfect backdrop. Afterwards, indulge in a brunch at the Easy Tiger Bake Shop: the perfect spot for some light pastries and mimosas. A visit to the State Capitol building can enrich your trip with historical lessons and guided tours, after which you can refresh yourself with dinner and some fresh air at one of Austin’s patio dining venues.

Day Three

Wrap up your trip by exploring the scenic natural beauty of Austin. Take a small hike along the shimmering waters of Lady Bird Lake, or visit Zilkger Park and the nearby Umlauf Sculpture Garden. For an adventurous evening, explore Austin’s night-life scene at the award-winning Emmer & Rye.
